A Photo of Mu Sochua Swimming in a Pool with an Activist Digitally Edited
Mu Sochua is one of the CNRP’s senior leaders who lives in exile outside Cambodia after a heavy political crackdown in 2017. As she keeps her political fighting from abroad, a picture of Sochua swimming with an opposition activist was circulated on social media. The picture has been shared on social media for years. However, running a reverse image search proves the picture was digitally edited.
SOCIAL MEDIA CLAIM
A photo depicting an opposition leader Mu Sochua romantically swimming in a pool with an activist was recently circulated on social media.
The social media post implies the prominent opposition leader had a secret romantic affair with a political activist living in South Korea.
Khmer-speaking social media users shared and commented on the post, believing the photo was real.

The photo has been circulated on social media since late 2019. It got a lot of comments and reactions from social media users.
FACT CHECK
Fact Crescendo Cambodia began debunking the photo described above by running a reverse image search which led us to find the facts below.
By running TinEye, we found a video with the same details on the photo stock site www.shuttterstock.com.
The video depicts a white couple – the girl wearing a swimming suit and the man wearing sunglasses – enjoying swimming in a pool.
This video clearly shows it is not Mu Sochua with an opposition activist as the claim described.

Fact Crescendo Cambodia found the photo mentioned above was digitally edited. The photo is not of the opposition leader Mu Sochua with an activist living in the South Korea. The original image is of the video depicting a white couple swimming in a pool.
