Dior Makes Clarification After Seeing Fake Promotions in Cambodia
Dior is one of the world’s most sought-after brands. As it’s an internationally well-recognized product, some Facebook pages claim the company has provided big discounts for different occasions in Cambodia and the region. Then, the claim has been shared many times for several months. However, we discovered the claim was false and the promotion was an online scam.
SOCIAL MEDIA CLAIM
A Facebook page named AEON Mall Mean Chey claimed that Lady Dior – bags produced by the France-based Christian Dior – was on sale with a big discount of up to 60 percent for the Khmer New Year Festival last month.
The Facebook page requested customers to click on a link attached to the post, saying it’s a way to get the bid discount from the company providing for only 200 customers.
The post had been shared many times by social media users, and many Facebook users expressed their reactions and comments to the post.
Below is the capture of the Facebook post on April 16, 2024, saying, “Dior Cambodia is entering a new era. We are bringing special gifts for the upcoming Khmer New Year Festival. A thousand gifts will be sent to you during this special occasion. Codes with a special discount of 60 percent for Lady Dior – bag with perfection – will be given to the first 200 customers who make an order via SMALL LADY DIOR BAG: https://www.aeonmallphnompenh.online/lady-dior-bag. It’s a place where you will experience how big the store is and how attractive the design it was created with your concepts.”
The same Facebook page continued posting the big discount for International Mother’s Day, saying Dior bags were on sale with 60 percent off for the first 200 customers who placed their orders by clicking the link attached to the post.
Below is the capture of the Facebook post saying, “Happy International Mother’s Day. Have you prepared a gift for your beloved mother yet? On the occasion of International Mother’s Day, Dior Cambodia offers 200 60% discount codes for some of our products. Get the offer now at the online store: Lady Dior bag: http://www.diorkh.online/ny-lady-dior. Show your love and appreciation on this special Mother’s Day. Hope you have a great experience with Dior Cambodia.”
Another Facebook page named Aeon Mall Mean Chey also posted the promotion, saying Dior Cambodia is offering discounts of up to 66 percent on the occasion of the company's 78th anniversary. The post said the discount was given to customers who clicked on a link attached to the post.
Below is the capture of the Facebook post saying,“Dior Cambodia: Celebrate 78 years of Dior empire with Aeon Mall Mean Chey – Sale up to 66%. DiorKH would like to send to all of you living and working in Cambodia the biggest promotion of the year 200 discount codes up to 66% when purchasing high-end Dior Sauvage perfume samples at the online store: http://www.diorkh.store/dior_sauvage. The program sends thanks to everyone in Cambodia who has always trusted and supported Dior during the past time.”

The same promotion of Dior products was made by another Facebook page named Dior Philippines on February 02, 2024.

FACT-CHECKING
Fact Crescendo Cambodia began debunking the claims by sending inquiries to Christian Dior, and AEON Mall Mean Chey which led us to find out the facts below.
First of all, we clicked on the provided links, and then found out they were not safe to continue the process. This indicates our computers and mobile devices without having a proper antivirus are at higher risk of being attacked by unknown hackers.
Below is the capture of the warning we got from the antivirus Bitdefender after we clicked on the links attached to the Facebook post mentioned earlier.
Then, we talked on the phone with the information center of the Japanese-owned mall to get clarification. The company's information center told us about the supermarket's official Facebook page.
We find out the official Facebook page of AEON Mall Mean Chey has 118K Likes and 129K followers as of May 16, 2024.

The Japanese mall made clarifications posted on its official Facebook page some months ago, saying some Facebook pages had tried to manipulate “fake news” about the big discounts for Dior products.

Below is another clarification made by AEON Mall Mean Chey on February 26, 2024, after a Facebook page using the same name as the mall to promote the big discount on the Dior perfume.
Responding to Fact Crescendo Cambodia, Christian Dior SE or Dior clarified that no online boutique is available in Cambodia. The France-based company said any promotion made on Facebook pages in Cambodia is fake.
The company said its luxury products could be enquired and purchased at the only trusted channel: https://www.dior.com.
CONCLUSION
Fact Crescendo Cambodia found out the sale of Dior products promoted by Facebook pages mentioned earlier is false. Christian Dior – a luxury fashion company based in France – clarified that it has no online boutique in Cambodia and all online promotions are fake.
