Have these buildings collapsed in Israel recently?
Since the Israeli-Hamas Palestinian war erupted in early October, several videos related to the conflict have been posted on social media. Meanwhile, a video clip showing a multi-story building collapsing was posted on Facebook and TikTok recently. The video is linked to claims that it was the scene of a building collapse in Israel. The video link above has been re-distributed several times, with mixed reactions. However, we found that the video was associated with false information.

Social Media Claim
On November 2, 2023, a Facebook page posted a video clip showing the scene of the collapse of many buildings attached to a claim that this is a scene that has recently taken place in Israel. The clip above has been shared several times, along with a variety of user comments and reactions by the social media users speaking Khmer.
Below is the full video clip posted on social media with the caption, “Many buildings in Israel have collapsed”.

Fact Check
Fact Crescendo Cambodia reviewed and verified the above claim through the Google Reverse Image Search, which brings us to the following facts:
A video clip with the exact same view and shape of the collapsed building was found and published by ABC News on May 20, 2019. The same news article did not confirm that it was a view of the collapse of buildings in Israel as a result of the recent war between Israel and Hamas Palestine.
Instead, it was the scene of the collapse of the Martin Tower in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, which was destroyed by an explosion.

A view of another collapsed building of the same shape was also found on the Facebook page, which was named “The City of Fargo - Government” on September 17, 2023, in English that this was a view of the Lashkowitz skyscraper in Fargo, which was successfully demolished for development and not involved in the recent war between Israel and Hamas Palestine.

The scene of another building collapse was also reported and published by Courier & Press on November 21, 2021, on its Facebook page, without stating that it was the result of the war that caused the recent building collapse in Israel.
