A photo showing the crowd in front of the DIOR perfume shop in a supermarket was posted on social media, with claims that this was the case of the accumulation of more than 5 hours in Aeon Mall. Such claims are distributed and have mixed reactions from consumers. However, fact-finding by Fact Crescendo Cambodia found that the above claim was false.

Social Media Claim

On January 9, 2024, a Facebook page posted four photos, one of which shows a large crowd. The photos are linked to claims that this is what happened at the Aeon Mall. The same Facebook page also stated the reason why so many people lined up for hours to buy Dior perfume. This claim has been shared many times by social media users, along with comments and mixed reactions as well.

Below is a snapshot that describes, “I'm so bored queuing for 5 hours at Aeon Mall to buy Dior Sauvage perfume”.

Fact Check

Fact Crescendo Cambodia reviewed and verified the above claim through the Google Reverse Image Search process, which led to the following facts:

The photos, which have the exact same format and shape, were found on Getty Images, a major audio-visual website. One. The website does not confirm that this is a view of the DIOR perfume shop in Aeon Mall. Instead, a view of Chanel, located in Beijing, China, on April 18, 2021.

A similar view was also found on the Financial Times website, which was not related to the purchase of Dior perfume, as claimed on the page above.
