
As the 2023 national election approaches, a photo showing a billboard was posted by a Facebook user with the caption linked to political speech. Such posts are distributed and have mixed reactions from users. However, Fact Crescendo Cambodia’s fact-finding found that the above users’ photos are incorrect.

Social Media Claim
On December 26, 2022, one of the Facebook users recently posted a photo showing the billboard on one of the streets that read in Khmer or translated in English as “The race that is selfish and does not care about the nation is the lowest race”. The photo posted above has been shared many times by social media users, along with various expressions and reactions.
The following is an excerpt from the Facebook user’s post stating, “Really great”.

Fact Check
Fact Crescendo Cambodia started to check the above photo through Google Reverse Image Search, which led us to find the truth.
Photos with the same format and shape as the billboard on the road were found on Maps and are known as Kbal Thnal’s intersection between Preah Monivong Blvd. and Royal Cambodian Armed Forces Blvd (St. 271) which is located in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The following is a snapshot image captured from the website above that does not show nor feature the view of political speech placed on road banners.

Conclusion
Fact Crescendo Cambodia found that the photo posted by the Facebook user above is not true. This photo features a Nokia Lumia 630, not a banner with a political speech.
