Photo showing Hun Sen and his wife saluting the former Vietnamese leader altered
While Hun Sen and his family are often discussed and linked to by social media users, a photo of him and his wife standing and saluting the former Vietnamese leader was posted on a recent Facebook page. However, it was found that the photo posted on Facebook was digitally altered.
This is about our investigation of this claim.
Social Media Claim
On March 8, 2024, a Facebook user posted two photos showing former Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and his wife saluting former Vietnamese leader Nguyen Tan Dung.
The above photo has been shared a lot and can be believed by some Facebook users to be a real photo.
The following is a snapshot captured from a Facebook user’s post that read, “With Khmers stronger than kings, with Vietnamese shrinks both husband and wife”.
Posting such a photo was also found on another Facebook page more than 10 years ago, depicting Hun Sen and his wife raising their hands in salute to the former Vietnamese Prime Minister.
The same photo above was also found and distributed on the Khmerization website, which shows Hun Sen and his wife bowing to the former leader of Vietnam.

Fact Crescendo Cambodia reviewed and verified the above claim through the Google Reverse Image Search application, which brings us Find out the following facts:
A photo of the same shape was found and posted on the Chinese-language website Sohu on October 22, 2008. The same website reported and confirmed that that is the view of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, who has officially welcomed Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, who is on an official visit to Beijing, China.
