Social Media Claim

On February 15, 2023, a Facebook user recently posted a photo showing the scene of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen in a hospital gown. Social media user above linked up and claimed he has passed away. This claim has been shared and expressed enthusiastically. The following is an image captured from the Facebook page above that reads in English “RIP Hun Sen”.

Fact Check

Fact Crescendo Cambodia has started to check the above images and claims through Google Reverse Image Search, which brings us to find out the following facts.

A photo of the exact same shape and form was found and posted by The Straits Times since May 4, 2017. The same website above was written in English as “Cambodian. Prime Minister Hun Sen, one of the world's longest serving rulers after more than three decades in power, is in hospital in Singapore”. This article does not claim that he has passed away at all.

Similarly, through the Facebook page of Prime Minister Hun Sen posted on February 16, 2023 which shows he received a courtesy call and discussed work with the Commander of the Self-Defense Forces of Japan, Yoshida Yoshihide. This clearly shows that the prime minister is still alive and healthy.
