A photo depicting a Vietnamese leader, Le Duc Tho, taking a photo with Hun Manet was posted on Facebook recently. This photo was reacted to and shared by Facebook users speaking Khmer. However, running a Google Reverse Image search proves that the photo posted above was digitally altered.

On October 31, 2022, one of the Facebook users recently posted a photo showing a former Vietnamese leader, Le Duc Tho standing with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen's eldest son, Hun Manet. The image posted above has been shared several times by social media users, along with a variety of comments and reactions as well.

Fact Check

Fact Crescendo Cambodia started to check the above photo through Google Reverse Image Search, which led us to find the truth.

Photos of the same format and shape were found and posted on Getty Images, an audio-visual website. The same website states that this is the view of Vietnamese leader Le Duc Tho and security adviser Henry Kissinger after a peace treaty in Gif-sur-Yvette, France in 1973. This photo does not feature former Vietnamese leader, Le Duc Tho, posing for a photo with Hun Manet.

The following is an image captured from the website above, written in English as “US National Security Advisor Henry Kissinger (R) and Duc Tho, leader of North-Vietnamese delegation, leave the house where take place their meetings about the enforcement of the Vietnam war's peace treaty, 23 January 1973 in Gif sur Yvette”.
