After a plane crashed in Malaysia last month, a video clip showing smoke and flames while landing was posted on social media in connection with the claim that it was the scene of the Malaysia Airlines plane that crashed earlier last month, according to the video clip. However, Fact Crescendo Cambodia’s fact check found that the claim attached to the video clip above is misleading.
This is about our investigation of this claim.

Fact Check
Fact Crescendo Cambodia reviewed and verified the above claim through the Google Reverse Image Search process, which led us to find the following facts:
An exact scene of a plane with smoke coming out of the cabin was found and published on a news website called “Global News” on March 6, 2023. The above website confirmed in its report that it was the scene of a Southwest Airlines flight from Cuba to Florida, USA, forced to return to Havana, Cuba, after its plane hit a bird and had engine problems in the cabin, which led to smoke.

Also, a video report from The Telegraph showed the same video clip confirming that a passenger plane caught fire in Russia in May 2019. This forced an emergency landing and also caused a fire at the Sheremetyevo airport in Moscow, Russia. As many as 41 people were killed during that crisis.
We have also found that a small plane crashed on a highway in Malaysia in August 2023. It has also been reported in The New York Times that about 10 people were killed, including two highway commuters.
