On April 9, 2024, a Facebook page posted a photo comparing Christmas tree decorations made during the Khmer New Year celebrations at Phnom Penh International Airport.

The photo above may be believed by some Facebook users to be a real photo, as many have been shared many times by Facebook users.

Below is a snippet captured from the Facebook page above that reads, “Criticize and think it would be better, but this is worse than before; what is the national identity?

Fact Crescendo Cambodia reviewed and verified the above claim through the Google Reverse Image Search application, which brings us to the following facts:

A photo of the same shape was found and posted by a Facebook user on December 18, 2014. The same user also mentioned in his post about the aspect of decorating a Christmas tree made of baskets at the Phnom Penh International Airport.

The following is an image captured from the user's channel, written as “Christmas tree at phnom Penh airport made from baskets used for fishing. Good symbolism”.

Another corner-view photo was also found on the Teacher Horizon website, confirming that it was a Christmas tree decoration from a basket at Phnom Penh International Airport in 2014.
