Fact Check: Is This Beach Road Located in Kampot, Cambodia?
Our planet is full of beautiful and incredible places as we have seen in many countries across the globe whether they are man-made or natural. Meanwhile, a photo showing a beautiful beach road was posted recently on a social media platform. It was claimed and linked that the photo is situated in Kampot province, Cambodia. It was reacted with mixed comments and shared by the Facebook users. However, after running a Google Reverse Image search, it proves that the claim attached with the photo above was misleading.
This is about our investigation of this claim.
Social Media Claim
On October 20, 2021, one of the Cambodian Facebook users posted a photo showing the view of the road along a beautiful beach and claimed to be in Kampot province Cambodia. Kampot is known to be a province in the southern part of Cambodia, about 148 km from Phnom Penh. This photo may make users think that this is located in Cambodia since they are shared and liked many times by the users.
The following is an image from the user's post that translates in English as “Kampot, my soul”.
Fact Check
Fact Crescendo Cambodia had started to check and verify this photo directly by running a Google Reverse Image search, which brought us to the sources containing the following photos.
A photo with the exact same format and shape was found, which was posted by a Twitter user on August 23rd , 2021. This photo was taken and originally posted by Prudhvi Chowdary, a landscape and tourism photographer.
The following is an excerpt from a Twitter user post written in English as “Maravanthe Beach, Kundapura. The Incredible West Coast of India”.
Similarly, India Times published on August 9th, 2021, also shows photos of the streets along this beach.

Fact Crescendo Cambodia found that the above-mentioned claims along with the photo were misleading. This photo was taken by Prudhvi Chowdary and is factually known to be situated at Maravanthe Beach Road, India.
