Thailand is one of the many countries in Asia where foreign tourists like to travel and spend the most money for a vacation stay. Not only that, this neighboring country is also ranked fourth as the country that earns the most all over the world as well.

Meanwhile, a viral photo showing one of the beautiful structures of an ancient temple was posted on Facebook recently. This photo was claimed and linked that it was located in Bangkok, Thailand’s capital. It was reacted with mixed comments and shared by many Facebook users. However, after running a Google Reverse Image search, it proves that the claim attached with the photo was misleading.

This is about our investigation of this claim.

Social Media Claim

On October 14, 2021, one of the Facebook pages called Magical Adventures posted a photo showing the aerial view of a beautiful ancient temple. It was claimed that this ancient temple is located in Bangkok, Thailand. This photo was reacted with mixed comments and reshared by thousands of Facebook users.

Fact Check

Fact Crescendo Cambodia had started to check and verify this photo directly by running a Google Reverse Image search, which brought us to the sources containing the following photos.

An exact shape and form of this floating temple has been found on Alamy, a popular audio-visual website. The site also states the location of this area in Englis as “Pavilion of the Enlightened, Ancient city in Samut Prakan province, Thailand”.

According to the travel website Asia Travel Gate also posted and advertised the view of this temple. The same website did not confirm the location of the temple that it is in Bangkok as claimed by a Facebook page above.

Where is the Pavilion Of The Enlightened?

Through the Google Map website, the Fact Crescendo Cambodia team has found that the Pavilion of Enlightenment is located inside the Ancient City in Samut Prakan district, Samut Prakan province, which is approximately 40 km from Bangkok, Thailand.

Conclusion

Fact Crescendo Cambodia found that the above-mentioned claims along with the photo were misleading. This ancient temple is not located in the territory of Bangkok as claimed. This photo is known as the “Pavilion Of The Enlightened”, Ancient City located in Samut Prakan Province, Thailand which is approximately 40 km from Bangkok.
