Is this the view of Vietnamese fans at the SEA Games in Cambodia?

After the match between Laos and Vietnam in Group B last Sunday in Cambodia, a photo of several Vietnamese flag bearers posted on social media claiming it was the scene in the game. This post was shared and reacted recently. However, Fact Crescendo Cambodia found that the above claim is false.

Social Media Claim

A photo of several supporters in red suits and holding the Vietnam’s flag was recently posted on social media with a claim that the scene was the support of Vietnam at the SEA Games at a stadium in Cambodia. Photos with such claims have been shared nearly 3,000 times by social media users who are speaking Khmer.

The following is a snapshot captured from a social media claim on May 3 stating “Worrying, the SEA Games in Cambodia, but rich in Vietnam’s flag, see and cannot sleep”.

A photo of the exact same form and shape was found and published on a news website in a Vietnamese local news media, VN Express, on May 25, 2022. In the above article. It was confirmed that the scene was a show of congratulations from Vietnamese supporters after Vietnam’s victory gold medal in the women’s football match against Thailand at Cam Pha Stadium in Quang Ninh province on May 21, 2022.
